In the latest deliverable, a replicability analysis, BL2F partners Adéola Jaiyeola and Imad Audi from LGI Sustainable Innovation studied three feedstocks that could be used in the BL2F process instead of black liquor to produce advanced biofuels: Sawdust, Bark and Sewage sludge. The study is focused on the potential of these biofuels in Finland and Sweden.
For each of these three feedstocks, they studied the opportunities and barriers linked to biofuel production, in terms of feedstock availability in the country, current use of the feedstock, cost competitivity, regulations, technical feasibility, environmental impact etc.
